What exactly am I doing in London?

I've been asked many times what exactly I will be doing in London, so allow me to explain.  I have an internship with the U.S. Commercial Service, which is a government agency that aids U.S. businesses in marketing and exporting their products to the U.K.  This agency is a part of the International Trade Administration, which is a division of the Department of Commerce.  There are U.S. Commercial Service offices in American embassies all over the world.  I will spend my workdays in the American embassy in the heart of London's upscale Mayfair borough.  My day-to-day tasks will involve responding to inquiries from U.S. and U.K. businesses, organizing and volunteering at trade shows, collecting and analyzing market data, and other various administrative tasks.

London has hundreds of unique boroughs that each bring their own sights, tastes, and shops to the British culture.  In my spare time I plan to explore as many as possible!  I want to get to know both the most popular spots and the locals' secret spots, and more than anything I want to run into Duchess Kate Middleton or meet the Queen...but that may be a bit of a stretch.  Hopefully while I'm there I can learn how to do as the British do and still hold on to my Texan pride.  To be honest, I've lived in the white-middle-class-suburban-Christian bubble for too long, so I hope to gain some fresh perspectives by meeting other students and young professionals from all over the world.  I will do a lot of learning and adapting during the next few months, and you, my friends, will get to hear all about it here!
